Nicolas Cage is master of the puzzled expression. Whether this comes extra naturally to him or not, I cannot say. But in this movie, Cage runs around a lot (a lot) looking perplexed yet intrigued, even though the questions that he’s investigating are downright ridiculous, even for a paranormal movie. I guess they call that charisma, to keep the viewers attention, somewhat, despite the story being pretty lowly. It’s time for another Nicolas Cage hefty budget VOD ...

Everyone knows that Nicolas Cage’s career hit the skids a long time ago. Nowadays, we know the drill, everything he appears in is lowly. cheap and lazy. Well, with this latest movie, given its serious subject matter and tone, people wondered whether The Runner might be one to kick-start Cage’s career if just by a little, or if only to quietly earn respect as a well executed C-Movie. It happened a while back with Joe, a pretty ...

This is a film that took me several attempts to complete. I don’t if that tells you something or not, but it should. I also believe that it probably correlates with the fact that Chinese distributors pulled the movie hours before its release. It’s a modern Nicolas Cage movie, therefore it is a pile of shit but has the hidden value of Nicolas Cage’s outrageous trolling. It’s a pity though that you have to sit through ...

Earlier in the year Paul Shrader, Nicolas Cage and Anton Yelchin urged and actually in some instances begged people to boycott this movie, Dying of the Light. Publicity stunt were the first two words that came to mind with me. However it appears there was more to it than that. Helmer Paul Shrader took to Facebook to declare that the movie was “taken away from me, edited, scored, and mixed” by the studio. Conveniently, the post ...

This is another one of those films stuck in limbo between theatrical release and DTV obscurity. With a budget of $25,000,000 you’d think that it might somehow stand out among other B/C-Movies. Although I suspect that that budget is slightly exaggerated – not just big movies like The Avengers do this. Some people might think that Tokarev, like Joe (2014), is an important movie on the comeback of Nicolas Cage, but what’s more interesting about it is ...

In short, a haunting and visually striking, admirably uncompromising revenge horror flick, that gives Nic Cage an increasingly rare opportunity to shine in a film which is actually worthy of him showing up. Also with a good supporting cast and quietly amusing sense of humour. Nicolas Cage and Andrea Riseborough play Red Miller and Mandy Bloom, a couple whose lives are destroyed following a chance encounter between Mandy and a mini bus full of Jesus freaks, real weirdo hippy types, who ...

This film is headed toward a 3/10 on the IMDb. I’m sure it’s even worse on Rotten Tomatoes. So considering it’s a VOD actioner with a 1990’s star well past his heyday on the cover (we all know how this goes), I wondered whether or not there was even any point in wasting my time. I decided to hold my nose and see if old Saint Nic could defy hate and maybe shine up another turd with ...
